Carmageddon: Rogue Shift takes the vehicular combat classic and turns it into a brutal, procedural roguelite. This is a genre where each run is a frantic, adrenaline-fueled escape through a randomly generated dystopian city to fix your “Beater” car, find dangerous upgrades, and fight off increasingly aggressive waves of crazed rivals and corrupt law-enforcement drones. The gameplay in Carmageddon is a non-stop cycle of destruction-turned-progression: you earn scrap and car parts by breaking down structures, hitting pedestrians (or “Zombie-Peds”), and destroying other cars in Last Man Standing races or checkpoint challenges. Then you spend those resources right away between levels at a mobile chop shop where you can get armor, nitro, or even weapons like mounted chainsaws and homing missile racks. The core twist is the “Rogue Shift” mechanic, an unexpected, sudden occurrence mid-event that totally changes the environment like a meteor shower or an electromagnetic pulse that scrambles the map and enemy AI, forcing you to adapt your tactics on the fly. Your car is your persistent character, with a deep meta-progression system that unlocks new chassis, pilot abilities, and mutators that permanently alter gameplay rules, ensuring no two runs are the same in this gleefully unhinged celebration of automotive anarchy.
