Cultist Simulator is a game about managing cards of skills, resources, people, and opportunities. No set sequence to follow, make your own story, make things up, discover things you don’t know. Each will affect their course of action, and with limited resources, they must be careful in their actions. Also, the need for balance becomes more and more critical as new problems emerge with regard to health, finances, and sanity.

As you follow the instructions of the cult, you can meanwhile follow and gather followers, perform rituals, hunt for forbidden knowledge, and expand the game. A lot of it involves experimentation and learning the mechanics by doing, as opposed to playing a traditional simulation game. Also, distinct story paths, events, and goals result in different playthroughs. So every session provides fresh opportunities and an ongoing feeling of risk and moving forward.
