Game Overview
The ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN game is a new, scary, and open expansion of the Lands Between, taking players deep into a darkened world where the moon has gone missing, and the only light comes from the eternal gloom. The whole gameplay changed quite a lot as players became the invaders of the Nightreign Kingdom, which is cursed, where things did not go as expected in time. Thus, the enemies appeared and disappeared, and the conditions of the hazards changed in the most bizarre way that was hard to explain. A new “Dread” mechanic makes players take care of their sanity; if the darkness or the eldritch presence is going to be there for a long time, the player will get hallucinations, the enemies will be shown to be different, and even the way they will be attacking is going to change.
In addition, this expansion presents Umbral Magic, a prohibited school of magic that takes the life of the caster and uses it as a power to cast the most hurting spells. However, the caster still has to pay the price, gradually disappearing their figure and becoming a nasty monster. Horseback fighting gets a new and better experience with spirit horses that fly along with them through the ruins in the air and glide through the bottomless pits, while the changing of the weather that happens suddenly – for example, the clicking of a “Soulstorm” – changes the condition of the battlefield, where no one can hide, nor can one be safe from the charge of the ghostly troops.
Terrifying boss fights went to a new level here with the Hollow Monarch as an example: a giant figure which keeps changing, so if you were to hit it where it was weak, suddenly this part would grow, and you would not be able to hit it, the only way to survive was to keep modifying the tactics. In Nightreign, endless and intricate labyrinths, huge dungeons filled with all sorts of traps—some even changing the maze layout itself—tricky, player-driven rituals that can bring to life nightmarish versions of old bosses—just some aspects of what this terrifying new update has in store for you.
With an array of cursed weapons that change according to the characters they kill and the endings that make one question whether it is the truth or just cosmic horror, the ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN game completely redefines the level of horror and eeriness of the game by FromSoftware.
