Game Overview
Hell Clock is a persistent, time-bending survival horror game that has players stuck in an infernal dimension-shifting cathedral, where the main gameplay is using a cursed pocket watch to go through a world that continues to change violently in progression. The watch lets you do a rewind, pause, or fast-forward of specific environmental elements for a limited time, e.g., a bridge that is collapsing can be reversed, a demon that is pursuing can be frozen, or the growth of thorny barriers can be expedited; however, with each use, the “Chronos” resource that is consumed can only be refilled by collecting the memories of the victims that are dying and that have been scattered in the hellscape.
The cathedral is an evil creator of ambushes, with rooms that have flipped, stairways that go down endlessly, and walls that change based on the “Torment Cycle”, which is a function that gets more demonic/vile with the time that you are in one area. Your only advance is from the achievement of your success in solving multilayered temporal puzzles that require precise observation and daring timing, like freezing a pendulum blade to pass a chasm and then rewinding a wooden beam to make it fall and stop your pursuers.
You don’t have any weapons to fight with, so survival is dependent on stealth, well-planned time manipulation, and controlling the rhythm of the environment’s chaotic changes, thus making every second very valuable and each decision a gamble with the odds of being able to move forward or be destroyed by time.
