Mother Hub presents an intensely engaging and thrill-filled gameplay that merges the three types of activities: the interactive nature of playing, solving puzzles, and horror survival while maintaining a coiled and mood-rich atmosphere. The game is situated in the cold, working passages of an empty research facility that is in a circular motion around a faraway planet. The players are thrown into a world that is like a maze, and it consists of unclear terminals, a lot of flashlights, and an AI entity, the existence of which is very suspicious at the same time. They have to pass this untraversed environment carefully without being seen, thinking critically, and with the help of a few resources, can spend time trying to gather the pieces of the broken puzzles and look for the truth about the facility.
The involvement of the player in shaping the game is crucial, from deciding which doors to open to deciding how to react to the error-riddled systems that are the power source of the station. The atmosphere solidifies as odd occurrences become frequent, eventually making you wonder whether or not this is indeed the reality, your recollections, and if “Mother” is just a haunted ghost of the now-lost station. It is a mental and environmental experience where the feeling of being lonely is intertwined with the process of searching and collecting evidence.
