Game Overview
Survival Machine graphically immerses the players in a vicious biomechanical nightmare where they have to carry out a mission of piloting a Marrowframe, which is a giant, progressively developed exoskeleton. This being is the result of a really dirty metal and a living tissue that keeps pumping fusion. Such is the unfortunate fate of every decision: either you decide to walk deeply into the irradiated ruins and scavenge for unstable nanite cores to give a boost to your machine’s sawblade-like limbs, or you decide to take the risk and go into the Flesh Pits. There, the symbiotic parasites may provide you with your regenerative abilities. Still, you will have to pay the price of permanent mutations. The game’s body-horror crafting system allows you to create new weapons out of the remains of the enemies you kill.
For example, one moment you may find yourself carrying a barbed tendril-whip, and at the next moment you swap it to a cluster of screaming, projectile-vomiting face-cannons. Such is the chaotic amplification of the dynamic weather systems, while the acid monsoon is eroding your armor, the Gland Beasts that are very hungry come out of the mud and take food, their stretched bellies are full of larvae that are swarming like bees. The Marrowframe instability is the real fear: go too far with your adaptations, and your machine may turn against you, the half-digested pilot may be screaming while it is cannibalizing its parts during the fight.
The game’s soundtrack consists of industrial sounds, and the settings constantly change between abandoned megacities and glowing alien hive-caverns. Survival Machine is not a game about triumph. It is about being able to stay alive long enough and turn into the monster that will be your hunter.
