Tangle Tower is a great example of a game that mixes detective and puzzle solving, and all of it in those mysterious tones that are also very appealing. Here, the players are given the role of a detective pair, Sally and Grimoire, and their task is to solve the enigmatic murder of Freya Fellow by visiting a wealth of a quite bizarre mansion full of suspects and secrets. The game stands out thanks to its implementation of point-and-click genre elements together with smart dialogue trees, thus giving the possibility to talk to the characters in interviews in a dynamic, multilinear manner. Each piece of evidence discovered—a mysterious sketch, an enigmatic object, or a conflicting alibi—gives the impression that the house’s layers are being peeled off bit by bit.
The puzzles are not only of a highly ingenious nature but also easily understandable. They are there to draw you to the world of the adventure game in the most visual way possible. At the same time, the animated pictures and the soundtrack that creates an immersive atmosphere do the rest. After each unexpected turn you get ahead of in the game, Tangle Tower keeps you enthralled and in suspense till its weirdly thrilling end.
