Game Overview:
Vacation Simulator is a sun-kissed, just-off-the-mark holiday paradise where every activity, NPC, and environmental interaction is carried out by physics-based, absurd task-management, playful logic. Here, relaxation and chaos are mixed. The fundamental loop is based on ‘leisure-loop completion’, you are set into three separate resort zones (the Beachscape, the Mountain Hut, and the Forest Campground) with each having a procedural generation of vacation activities such as building sandcastles that can collapse under their own weight, grilling virtual hot dogs that will burn if you turn away for a moment, or trying to snap a photo of the elusive ‘Shutterbug’ creature which also manages to photobomb its own pictures.

The player character is a customizable rob-tourist named Unit 472. The traditional health or combat mechanics are absent; instead, you are presented with a ‘bliss meter’ that reduces with non-vacation actions like (checking an imaginary watch, sorting items by color, or saying ‘I should be working’), and gets replenished when you are having fun in the real sense, like throwing frisbees into volleyball nets, stacking floaties into uneven towers, or trying to get a seagull to sing out of tune.

If you want to go on, you need to master the ‘souvenir snapshot’ system. After finishing an activity, you get a polaroid-style memory card which you put in your vacation journal, thus gaining access to new variants of the zones such as the ‘Midnight Beach’ with its bioluminescent waves and grumpy nocturnal crabs or the ‘Retro Ski Lodge’ where you have VHS-taped tutorials and the chairlifts that keep malfunctioning and throw you into the deep snow powder.
