Game Overview
Max Payne 3 is a third-person action shooter. It delivers an intense experience with its gunfights and a narrative delivered in a cinematic way. As Max, you will play a private security contractor in the Brazilian city of São Paulo, witnessing firsthand a kidnapping and a criminal conspiracy. The action mixes quick-fire shooting with a very dramatic slow-motion sequence, covering combat through different styles such as cover-based, and including movie-like set pieces.
Max has the capability of handling various weapons at the same time such as pistols, assault rifles, shotguns, and even sniper rifles. Bullet_time feature is very handy because it gives Max a window of time to move and target enemies accurately when everything is moving around him very fast. It also enables Max to display his shooting skills by performing some great stunt-like shooting sequences. It is a big plus to the game if, after being gravely hurt by the enemy, it gives the player one last opportunity to kill the enemy, i.e., in case the player has a painkiller.
Bullet Time dives enable players to jump in the air while firing shots in a very slow and controlled manner. A range of gun-fighting scenarios and large-scale shootouts together with vehicle sequences will be accompanied at the end of the story with cinematic cutscenes highlighting the most exciting moments of the game. The movement and weapon animation of Max will have a very realistic and dynamic feel to the action by the integration with the game's physics system.
Last Man Standing is among the highlights of the game, a feature that if Max has a painkiller in hand, then even if the enemy seriously injures him, it provides him one last chance to take his revenge. Bullet Time is a mechanic wherein the player, after getting critically wounded by enemy fire, gets a chance to shoot the attacker if the player uses a painkiller.
However, this is available for one hit only. So, the idea for implementing such a feature was quite risky yet at the same time very thrilling to a degree, considering that it is a one-time kill only.
